ATLANTA, GA: Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced the creation of the Absentee Ballot Fraud Task Force on Monday, alleging the task force will be “responsible for upholding the integrity of the vote in Georgia.”
Sarah Riggs Amico, candidate for U.S. Senate, released the following statement in response:
“While tens of thousands of Georgians lay exposed and vulnerable to COVID-19, the GA Secretary of State and his Republican cronies are gleefully directing taxpayer dollars to further their malicious agenda of voter suppression and intimidation. It’s unconscionable though not unpredictable that they are using the chaos and fear of a global health crisis to sow distrust in a vote-by-mail program that has proven time and again to be safe, secure and legitimate.
The Absentee Ballot Fraud Task Force is an excuse to burn taxpayer dollars on the boogeyman of voter fraud, when instead our leaders should be focusing on how we can ensure that eligible voters are able to exercise their constitutional right to vote and have their votes accurately counted. It appears Georgia Republicans will do anything and spend anything in their attempts to prevent eligible Georgians from casting their ballots safely and freely.”
